Summer 2026 Internship - Data Pipeline Engineer - Audio & Mobile Intern (Seattle)
About Hearvana
Hearvana is building the future of acoustic intelligence. We work at the intersection of hardware, mobile software, and machine learning, and we're looking for motivated computer science and engineering students to join us hands-on this summer.
What You'll Do
This is a broad, high-impact role. You'll work directly with our core team on:
- Acoustic data collection: operate and interface with custom hardware devices to capture high-quality audio data in real-world environments
- Mobile app development: build or extend Android and/or iOS features that interface with our hardware and support data workflows
- Data collection rig design: help design and assemble physical and software setups for systematic, repeatable data collection
- ML training data pipelines: run structured data collection sessions and contribute to organizing and labeling datasets used to train our ML models
- Embedded systems integration: work with the firmware and embedded software on our custom hardware to configure, troubleshoot, and extend data capture capabilities
No two days will look the same. You'll get real engineering experience across the stack.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong Python skills
- Familiarity with Android and/or iOS development (Java/Kotlin, Swift/SwiftUI, or React Native)
- Experience working with hardware, soldering, bench tools, or debugging physical systems
- Self-directed and comfortable in an early-stage environment where things move fast
- Strong attention to detail, especially around data quality and reproducibility
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with audio hardware, microphones, or signal processing
- Experience with embedded systems (C/C++, microcontrollers, serial protocols, or similar)
- Experience with low-level audio frameworks (CoreAudio, ALSA, JUCE)
- Prior work with ML datasets or data annotation pipelines
Details
- Location: In-person Seattle
- Duration: Summer 2026 (flexible start/end dates)
- Compensation: Paid
- Openings: 1–2 positions depending on fit
Pay range: $5000-6000/month
How To Apply
Send your resume and a brief note about what excites you most about this role to hr@hearvana.ai. If you have relevant projects, hardware builds, apps, GitHub repos, we'd love to see them.
