Our MissionAI in robotics is still largely confined to academic institutions, specialized labs, and well-funded enterprises. There isn’t a unified collaboration hub akin to GitHub or HuggingFace for sharing and advancing robotic AI projects.
At Lucky Robots, we’re bridging this gap by developing a simulation environment that serves as the local hub for AI robotics, similar to how localhost functions for GitHub and HuggingFace. Our platform enables users to effortlessly download and deploy AI models across various robots.
To achieve this, we need to build robust AI models that work seamlessly in both simulated and real-world environments—and this is where you come in.
Role OverviewWe are looking for a Machine Learning & Perception Engineer to join our team. Your exact title (Research Engineer, Senior Research Engineer, or Founding Research Engineer) will be determined based on your experience level.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll be working on cutting-edge computer vision, 3D perception, and robotics AI. You’ll design and implement machine learning pipelines, develop neural network architectures, and optimize models for real-world robotic applications.
Key Responsibilities- Transform complex, real-world challenges into specific, actionable machine learning tasks.
- Design, develop, and execute sophisticated computer vision algorithms.
- Innovate and build unique neural network architectures tailored to our projects.
- Develop and integrate sturdy 3D geometry-based vision systems.
- Create scalable machine learning infrastructures capable of handling large datasets while ensuring reproducibility.
- Continuously analyze and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of various algorithms.
- Implement machine learning models on edge devices with limited computational resources while maintaining performance.
- Contribute to achieving Level 5 autonomy for consumer robotics.
- Hire and manage team members as needed (for senior/founding roles).
Your title will be based on experience:
Research Engineer- 2+ years of experience in machine learning for robotics or an AI startup.
- Strong background in computer vision and perceptual tasks, including 3D perception, object detection, and 3D mapping.
- Proficiency in Python (PyTorch) and Rust or C++.
- Demonstrated ability to transition from research to real-world AI applications.
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning for robotics or an AI startup.
- Proven track record of applying research to develop real-world, product-focused AI solutions.
- Deep expertise in computer vision, robotics control, and 3D mapping.
- Experience optimizing ML models for edge devices and low-power environments.
- 5+ years of experience, preferably with a prominent AI startup (DeepMind, OpenAI, etc.) or a top US-based AI/robotics company.
- Experience leading ML research and engineering teams.
- Expertise in designing new neural network architectures and scaling ML systems.
- Strong ability to take projects from R&D to production.
- Willingness to take ownership and define the AI roadmap for our robotics platform.
